South Road (route A13, B23) is a major north–south conduit in Adelaide and Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. Also known as Main South Road, it is one of Adelaide's most important arterial and bypass roads.
==History==
South Road of today was until the 1970s known by a string of names: Shillabeer Ave. (north of Torrens Road), Govt. Rd. (between Torrens Rd. and Port Rd.), John St. (Port Rd. to Grange Rd.), Taylors Rd. (between Grange Rd. and Henley Beach Rd.), Fisher Tce. (Henley Beach Rd. to Anzac Hwy.), and South Rd. from Anzac Hwy. southwards.〔Sands and McDougall's Directory, 1962.〕
